Another week of incredible weddings deserve another spotlight of amazing recognition... Team AVD, including South Florida’s Professional Photographer Tony Barreau & Makeup Artist Keesha SuperSpice Barreau have decided to go back in time, Shall we? In the 1930’s there was a return to a more genteel, ladylike appearance. Hair became softer and prettier, with beautiful soft curls, finger-waves and romance curls pinned to perfection and foreheads which had been hidden by cloche hats were revealed and adorned with small plate shaped hats thus revealing eyeshadow, rouge (blush), lipstick and artificial eyelashes. Time passed and years later, Shayna Diskin still epitomizes the custom and fashion code of a lady in the 1930’s... even in her everyday life. Clad in tweed pencil skirts, with ruffled blouses and pearls everywhere heading to class, you would think she stepped out of a 1931 Auburn 5 Passenger 2 door Brougham... I mean she was just going to class! As young as she was, deep within her was the spirit & fashion mind of the women in the 1930’s. So it’s only natural that this look would be incorporated in Shayna’s wedding day. Wedding Day: As the morning sun rose so did Shayna... first stop was hair. Hairstylist Debbie Reynolds-Crooks constructed small intricate knot-curls and then pinned them in the shape of a beautiful side chignon... making room for the feathered bird-cage veil that was waiting to take its rightful place on Shayna’s mane. Job well done! Now it was on to the next stop... Makeup! There was only room for one focal point on the face... and that was her lips. Makeup Artist Keesha SuperSpice Barreau decided to use an orange lip-liner as base and then top it off with a red passion lipstick, creating red-tangerine lips... understated but loud enough to make a statement. Eyes were done with a mixture of beige, brown, matte white, bronze and a kiss of orange shadows. Black liner, lash extensions & mascara were added to create the dramatic finish. Summer bronzer was added to her cheeks to create warmth and them topped off with coral blush for a dash of color. The canvas was fully painted and the 1930’s bride was ready to meet the Godfather... her military prince, Stephen Cali Castaño.
Ceremony: Looking like the Godfather, with a very serious stare, Stephen anxiously awaited the arrival of his bride. As soon as Shayna made her entrance, Stephen’s face lit up like a night in Time Square. There was no way he would be able to maintain that military stare... she melted him like ice-cubes on asphalt in the summer heat (lol). Vows were repeated as tears streamed down the faces of both mothers... their babies were leaving the nest and there was nothing they could do to stop it. Not to worry though, because amid the tears were smiles of joy and nods of approval. It was officially the moment that they among the other well-wishes had anticipated. Man & Wife: They did it! The two are now one... so off to have some fun. The reception was held at a beautiful country club in Parkland, Florida. Very intimate... family and a few close friends. The bride and groom rocked it out in their photo-session... turning up the heat as they bask in the glory of each other while photographer Tony Barreau creatively tweaked his shots to depict an old-vintage feel. Whew! It was steaming and we’re not referring to the weather. The new Mrs. Shayna Castaño was lifting and curving and teasing and seducing not just her husband but the cameras as well (lol). Sultry and sassy was in style and Stephen was digging on his wifey! She did it... He did it... They did it... We did it! Team AVD captured the essence of this amazing and authentic couple. Shayna & Stephen Castaño, AVD wishes you all the best in your new journey as husband and wife. Keep the fire burning and the lines of communication open. No turning back... it’s a new chapter with lots wonderful and exciting pages... now go on and write your story!!! ☺
Start the reel... 1930’s movie begins... “Man proposes to girl before going off to war... girl accepts and holds down the fort till man returns home... man marries girl... couple moves away to another state... and they live happily ever after.” Fin/The End! With an over-due shoot and a schedule so tight we had to make this count... and that we ALL did. Charline "LaVie" Murphy was ready & pumped to do her new photo-shoot which was geared towards her new project currently underway. She was taking no chances and so she went all in with Personal Shopper/Stylist (Tiffany Gonzalez @ 5612558971), Hair Stylist (Natasha Beasley @ 9544715612), Makeup Artist (Keesha Barreau @ 9548655474) & South Florida Photographer Extraordinaire Tony Barreau (@ 7863018669). Charline was ready to provide a full performance in front of the lens and we were all ready to apply our unique touch to this artist to ensure a successful shoot. It was time for the makeup to be done and laughter engulfed the room as we were entertained by the many faces of LaVie. Take a look for yourself... LOL.
Braving what I'd like to call the Ledisi-Janelle Monáe hairstyle & amped with the reddest-red locks I've ever seen, LaVie was working the heck outta this style with pride (das wassup). Accompanied by her beautiful daughter Endy, her faithful friend Ranei & her wonderful & super-talented hubby Stephane Murphy (wicked bass player of all times - (firefingaz@gmail.com), we all headed for South Beach. Team LaVie was in full effect and about to lay this thing out. I'm sure you want to know who this "LaVie" girl is, so I decided to take a snippet from her page to introduce you to her. Check it..."From her effervescent stage performances and Neo-Soul/dance fusion tracks, LaVie’s light-hearted, airy quality belies the life that she’s lived to date. The hottest Neo-Soul vocalist home to the South Florida gospel scene is no stranger to pain. “It bleeds right through onto the bars of music in her debut album, Life Music,” said NEWDmagazine.com. Born Charline Fleuremon, LaVie endured a strict Haitian upbringing-- albeit it was more than she should bear at times....And, now with her first album under her belt, a new powerhouse husband/producer, Stephane Murphy, by her side and her 8-year-old daughter, Endy, following in her mother’s footsteps, LaVie is poised to take on the world and WIN!" (For more information on Lavie Music, feel free to check out http://www.laviemusic.com). Now, you understand the gem that we were working with. ☺ The shoot took place at the beautiful Blue Moon Hotel in the very heart of South Beach. We were privy to have access to a gorgeous room as well as the entire perimeters of the hotel. Sweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet (lol). First Look: Rocking baby pink, lavender & blue buttoned down shirt, adorned with triple strands of pearls mixed with more blings, not to mention the two over-sized gold-toned bracelets that she was rocking on each wrist (lol). This was accompanied by tweed high waist breeches (pants), a nude croc-patented leather opened-toed sandals paired with the cutest baby pink socks ever (so girly). Did I mention the deep purple lips that stained her pout? LOL.
Second Look: Going more for the softer side of things Stylist Tiffany Gonzalez put together a most unconventional outfit yet with a modern day twist... one that can definitely be seen grazing the streets of the most liberated cities like that of NYC, ATLANTA or better yet PARIS. A beige tiered-lace mid-length dress, this time with twice the number of pearl strands than before mixed with gold necklaces. Pearl & Crystal Clustered Earrings, rings on almost all her fingers, blinged-out bracelets on both wrists and a Swarovski belt. The look was edged up with a cropped caramel leather jacket & an opaque gun-metal tights with a pair of dark-brown mid-calf laced up boots. WHAT??? Tiffany killed this look and LaVie was definitely feeling it! The makeup on the eyes were softened and finalized with a lipstick from the the Viva-Glam collection by MAC.
Das a wrap! We had completed the shoot and every one was still speaking to each other (LOL). The shoot was a success. We all decided to celebrate the night with a drive down Biscayne Blvd to enjoy the scrumptious taste of Andiamo's Pizza (http://andiamopizzamiami.com). It was a great night-cap to a rather accomplished evening.
